Raindrop by Ruskin Bond

This leaf, so complete in itself,
Is only part of the tree.
And this tree, so complete in itself,
Is only part of the forest.
And the forest runs down from the hill to the sea,
And the sea, so complete in itself,
Rests like a raindrop
In the hand of God.

  1. Dear students,
Since some of us are gearing up for an interaction with Ruskin Bond while few are unaware of his writing, I only found it fitting to post couple of his poems on our blog. If you like these, our library has a plethora of books by the same author. I welcome you'll to explore this living literary icon...

  2. this is a beautiful poem about nature and how everything in nature is co-related
it talks about the small leaf being a part of the tree although so complete the tree being a part of a forest although so complete and the sea being so very complete rests like a raindrop in the hand of god................. so the poet is trying to tell us about the rich and divine yet so beautiful resources there are for us be it in the form of seas or forest and he tell us god is the one who gave it to us who made the world so rich and beautiful and he is trying to tell us to thank god by taking care of our heritage, heritage in this scenario stands for the beautiful seas, forests and tress.

    1. Actually the poet is saying that we are all small, yet a part of a divine collage. We are only part of the universe, and not the universe itself.
